Hand hygiene

We take hand hygiene seriously!

At Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) it’s okay to ask us to clean our hands!

We are committed to providing exceptional health care in a clean and secure environment!

Good hand hygiene is critical to strengthening the delivery of health care to those who need it most and greatly reduces the risk of hospital-acquired infections. The five moments of hand hygiene, as endorsed by the World Health Organisation are:

  1. Before touching a patient
  2. Before a procedure
  3. After a procedure or body fluid exposure risk
  4. After touching a patient
  5. After touching a patient’s surroundings

If you have any questions about hand hygiene during your stay, ask a member of your health care team for more information.
