Current/Open Grant Programs
The RPH Imaging Research Fund is seeking applicants for Round #2 PhD research grants for Radiology related research.
The program is funding a medical/non-medical PhD scholarship:
- The Turab Chakera fellowship for medical/non-medical PhD candidature intending to undertake original radiology research.
The program will also be seeking applications for Round #2 research grants under a formal application process up to a value of $80,000 in March 2021.
Small project grants of up to $20,000 may be applied for at any time.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible for consideration, the application must meet ALL the following criteria:
- At least one of the Principal Investigators in the research proposal must be in clinical practice at Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) or another Western Australian Health Service imaging teaching site as a:
- Radiologist
- Nuclear Medicine Physician
- Medical Imaging Technologist
- Nuclear Medicine Medical Imaging Technologist
- Sonographer
- The research project must be based and/or conducted within Western Australia.
- Applicants may submit applications as Principal Investigator in any financial funding round. The Principal Investigator should not submit applications for funding for more than three projects at any one time.
- All investigators involved in the research project must be listed and sign the application and their primary location noted on the application.
- The project must address an area of research in Clinical Imaging, or Basic Imaging Health Sciences.
The following grants are on offer:
PhD Scholarships 2021
- The Turab Chakera fellowship for medical/non-medical PhD candidature intending to undertake original radiology research.
Imaging Research Grants
- Applications for 2021 will be advertised in March 2021.
- Can receive up to $80,000 funding in total in any financial year.
- May be up to three years in duration.
Small Project Grants
- May be submitted to the Committee for assessment at any time during the year.
- Are expected to be up to 1 year in duration.
- Can receive up to $20,000 funding in total in any financial year.

- Ensure that the Declaration on page 7 is signed and dated when submitting the application.

The Committee
The RPH Imaging Research Committee was established by a steering committee on 1 October 2019, for the purpose of management and distribution of the annual budget to Imaging Research.
The functions and responsibilities of the Committee are to:
- Receive applications for expenditure of funds for Imaging Research in Western Australia.
- Assess applications and distribute funds according to the research funding principles.
