Royal Perth Hospital is part of the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) – an extensive hospital and health service network that aims to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 708,000 West Australians in its catchment area.
Our hospital network works together to provide a combination of tertiary, secondary and specialist health care services including emergency and critical care, state trauma, elective and emergency surgery, general medical, mental health, inpatient and outpatient services, aged care, palliative care, rehabilitation and women’s, children’s and neonate services.

Tertiary hospitals provide the highest level of care, often treating those with serious injuries or life-threatening conditions.
- Royal Perth Hospital – WA’s longest-serving tertiary hospital that provides an extensive range of services, including adult major trauma, emergency and highly specialised surgical services.

Armadale Health Service is a 271-bed general hospital that delivers a range of health care services including emergency, mental health, maternity, neo-natal, general medical, rehabilitation, surgical, dialysis, outpatient and intensive care services.

St John of God Midland Public Hospital (external site) is a 307-bed public hospital providing services for patients in Perth’s east metropolitan and Wheatbelt regions (operates within a Public Private Partnership)
Specialist hospitals provide specific health care services, such as mental health, aged care, rehabilitation and elective surgery.

Bentley Health Service is a public hospital providing specialist care in maternity, rehabilitation, community child and adolescent health, aged care and mental health.

Kalamunda Hospital is a 30-bedhospital, providing specialist palliative care including inpatient and a day hospice and also endoscopy services.

Byford Health Hub - EMHS has partnered with the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale to design and deliver a new health hub in Byford, scheduled to open in 2026/27.
