Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac rehabilitation assists people with coronary heart disease or other heart problems return to an active, satisfying life. There is strong evidence indicating that cardiac rehabilitation helps to reduce future cardiac events.

Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) offers a range of support options for patients and their families including:

  • Individual cardiac assessment by a cardiac nurse and physiotherapist
  • Telephone support by a cardiac nurse
  • Heart Health Seminars (put in hyperlink to section below) provided by our multidisciplinary team (open to all patients)
  • Supervised exercise in our cardiac gym
  • Home exercise programs
  • Defibrillator education and support group meeting
  • Referral to local programs/services

Eligible Patients

  • Acute coronary syndrome patients including post Myocardial Infarction (STEMI/NSTEMI), Angina
  • Heart Failure
  • Post cardiothoracic surgery CABG/Valve surgery
  • ICD patients

To refer patient to Cardiac Rehabilitation please complete an e-Referral.

Heart Health Seminars

Heart Health Seminars are free information sessions run by the cardiac rehabilitation team at RPH. These seminars provide practical advice and guidance to help you, and those supporting you, to understand your heart condition and manage your risk factors and lifestyle. The seminars are run at RPH on Thursdays from 10.15am to 12:45 pm on Level 4 in the Brian Vivian Seminar Room, Royal Perth Hospital.
