Trifecta for RPH fitness team

A fitness team from Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) has scored the trifecta by winning the Corporate Cup in the Busselton Festival of Triathlon for the third consecutive time.
Emergency consultant Dr Daithi de Baroid said the RPH team of 40 entrants ranged from radiographers to researchers to specialty medical staff, paramedics and nurses. They have bonded through their overlapping work in the Emergency Department (ED) and now take their friendships forwards towards achieving incredible fitness goals.
The team competed in the Busselton 100 which includes a two-kilometre swim, an 80-kilometre cycle and an 18-kilometre run either individually or with teams doing one leg each. Conditions were particularly challenging this year with many swimmers struggling to complete the course. Those who had finished were then some of the loudest supporters on the sidelines for those still going.
“The RPH ED fitness team is open to all staff members of the hospital and inclusive of all fitness levels. Come join us at one of our runs or swims over winter,” Daithi said.
So, will they be back in 2026 to defend their title?
"So far the Corporate Cup only has one name on it and we'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible!" he finished.
