Remembering Dr Thomas Waters

November 13, 2015

Co-founder of Royal Perth Hospital’s Gastroenterology Department Dr Thomas Waters passed away peacefully on 30 October 2015 after a period of illnesses.

An Emeritus Consultant, Dr Waters was involved in the planning and development of the first WA Gastroenterology Unit at Royal Perth Hospital. Head of Department at RPH for more than 11 years, he was known for his meticulous eye for detail and his dedication to his patients.

Dr Waters successfully mentored and guided many WA gastroenterologists through their careers. One of those was Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall who discovered the link between Helicobacter pylori and peptic ulcer disease.

Dr Waters will be remembered for always going above and beyond for his colleagues and patients.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues.
