DSTC, DATC and DPNTC Courses

Definitive Surgical Trauma Care (DSTC) Course

The DSTC is run in conjunction with the International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC). It is recommended by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons for all consultant surgeons and final year trainees who participate in the care of injuries patients. It is considered essential for surgeons involved in the management of major trauma and those working in remote, regional and rural areas. 

Definitive Anaesthetic Trauma Care (DATC) Course 

The DATC provides multidisciplinary training to consultant anaesthetists and anaesthetic fellows (post exam) in strategic thinking and decision-making in the management of severely injured patients and provide them with practical skills to manage difficult resuscitations. 

Definitive Perioperative Nurses Trauma Care (DPNTC) Course

The DPNTC is aimed at Registered nurses in perioperative nursing with a minimum of two years recent clinical experience and allows them to develop their knowledge and skills in a multidisciplinary environment. It aims to foster teamwork and collaboration where surgeons and nurses work together with anaesthetists.

Course dates:

  • 28 - 30 April 2026

Course content

This 3 day course comprises of lectures, interactive case discussions and laboratory based surgical skills training.

  • Surgical decision making in complex scenarios
  • Operative technique in critically ill trauma patients
  • Hands on practical experience working with experience national and international instructors
