Mental illness community services for children and adolescents

  • You are not alone – many people will be experiencing the same challenges.
  • There are services that can work with you to support recovery.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provides mental health programs to infants, children and young people. This includes community, specialised, and hospital-based programs.

These are available for children and young people under the age of 18 and their families who are experiencing significant mental health issues.

Children and families are referred to these services by their treating therapist, specialist, GP, school or other community organisation. There is a designated person available at each clinic who can provide advice about referrals and service options in your local area.
