On 14 November, Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) received the 2018 Defence Reserve Support Council's Employer Support Awards in the WA Public Sector Employer category.

RPH was nominated by Warrant Officer Class 2 and Emergency Department Nurse Pamela Mercer for the support she has received from the Emergency Department during her commitments to the Reserves.

"The Royal Perth Hospital Human Resources policies recognise the contribution of Service Members and the qualities they provide in the work place by the authorisation of military leave," said Pamela.

"My Nurse Unit Manager, Sarah-Louise Moyes, has made every effort to re-arrange the staff roster to enable Reserve leave when I have been called to serve with limited notice."

"She has also approved numerous amount of additional leave to attend parades and training courses and every effort has been made by our employer to authorise military leave when required."

The award was accepted by Emergency Department Nursing Unit Manager Sarah-Louise Moyes.

RPH would like to thank Sarah-Louise Moyes for her continued support of RPH staff, and Pamela Mercer for her dedication to both RPH and the Reserves.
